Period 1--ELA B 30
We had some discussions about the background of Oedipus Rex ( a classic Greek play that we'll be reading). We looked at the concept of prophesies and self-fulfilling prophecies. As well, we discussed the concept of fate vs. free will. We just started reading a short story to introduce the characters and antecedent action of the play, but the bell rang before we could finish.
Period 2--ELA B 30/AP 30
We finished the power point on sophism and Sophocles. AP students were introduced to a few terms that will be important for them to use: hubris, hamartia, epistomology. We then started reading the short story to introduce the antecdent action of the play.
Period 3--Pre-AP 10
We started reading the play. We didn't get too far, but summarized the first two scenes of ACt I and then discussed our impressions of Macbeth and Banquo. We will continue reading tomorrow.
Period 4--History 10
Students had time to write their paragraph describing the Middle Ages. They were shown examples of good, medium and poor quality assignments and then given some time to accomplish this. If they didn't finish, they will have to do it for homework for tomorrow. We then started learning about the Renaissance.
Period 5--History 30
Time to work on their map assignment.
