Period 1--ELA B 30
We continued reading Oedipus Rex and are almost at the end.  The tension is mounting in the play as Oedipus begins to realize his family connections!  We will finish tomorrow (barring some kind of disruption to classes!).

Cole McKenzie is assigned to write the Blues News next week.

Period 2--ELA B 30/AP 30
We continued reading Oedipus Rex and are almost at the end.  The tension is mounting in the play as Oedipus begins to realize his family connections!  We will finish tomorrow (barring some kind of disruption to classes!).

Period 3--ELA B 10
We took a break from reading the play and did a close examination of Macbeth's first soliloquy.  Yesterday, we paraphrased it so we had an idea of what it meant, but today we looked at it more closely to examine how various literary devices (resources of language) can create a tone.  Literary devices to pay particular attention to in this passage:  sibilance, imagery, metaphors and caesura.  The students watched me "take it apart" and copied it down on their own, personal copy of the passage.  We will continue reading tomorrow.  Be ready for a writing assignment later this week.

Period 4--History 10
We were a bit disrupted with school pictures this class, so only really had half of the class to get into our studies.  We had a handout of the Reformation and Counter Reformation where the students filled in the blanks.  We will finsih this tomorrow and then start in on the Enlightenment.

Period 5--History 30
We finished filling in our sheet on the physical characteristics of Canada.  We started reading a new handout that looks at regional disparity.
