Period 1--ELA B 30
We were in the computer lab working on the Summer News Assignment that will serve as a practice run for the Bles News Assignment.  Many are well on their way to being done, but I will give a little more time to finish up tomorrow.

The Summer News is due September 7th!

Kayli is first on the list to report the "Blues News!"  Look for her submission in next week's paper!

Period 2--AP 30/ELA B 30 split
We had a discussion about Identity; what kind of things affect who you are and how you act.  The students then created a concept map (graphic organizer) that showed themselves and the various things that affect their personality.  Finally, they were given the task to write a paragraph that answers the question:  WHO ARE YOU?  We reviewed proper paragraphing and discussed the use of transitional words and phrases.  The students then had to write the paragraph and hand it in at the end of the period using proper paragraphing and transitions.

Period 3--ELA AP 10
We are still looking at the power point that gives some background to Shakespeare's life and times.  It's interesting looking at how the world, particularly London, functioned back in the 1500s.   We had some excellent discussion and will finsih that power point tomorrow!

Period 4--History 10
We got down to work on actually building our timeline of Historical Events.  The students got themselves organized, figured out the logisitcs of the timeline itself and will finish up tomorrow.

Period 5--History 30
The trend seems to be we talk too much in this class (thankfully, on topic!).  We had some interesting discussion about History and the perception we get from textbooks and things we read, so kids can think about how much of what they learn from texts, and even their teachers, is coloured by those who are relaying the information.  This all came from the reading "Who Killed Canadian History?"  Towards the end of class, we finished the discussion and started in on a mapping assignment to reaquaint ourselves with the political and geographical boundaries in Canada.
