Period 1--ELA B 30
We spend some more time finishing making connections in what they read (text to text, text to self, and text to the world). They needed to choose one of each type of connection to expand on, write up and hand in. I showed them some exemplars from another short story. Then they needed to do the questions that accompanied the story. Once they finished, they started a reading assessment. This one will be formative to get them ready for a summative one that they'll do later.
Period 2--ELA B 30/AP 30
ELA B 30--We finished reading "What's Your Right Name?" and had some excellent conversations about labels. Once finished, they were introduced to the story "By Any Other Name" and given teh connection assignment (see above). They will have more time to complete this tomorrow.
AP 30--This was another work period in the computer lab for the students to research information about the three classical stories. We're going to have a session with just me and the AP kids tomorrow where we'll share info and I'll answer questions about their expectations.
Period 3--Pre-AP 10
I introduced them to what AP mulitple choice questions look like. The students were given a passage to read from Macbeth and then they had 10 multiple choice questions to do. They were to do it themselves first, and then in partners, they were to "fight it out" and see who they think was right. We were correcting the questions when the bell rang.
Period 4--History 10
Miss Campbell had the kids working in the computer lab on their invention research.
Period 5--History 30
The kids were presenting their power points about the provinces they were assigned. We spent the period filling out the blanks. I also gave the students an outline for their exam and a copy of the maps to study from since there will be a map section on their exam. I've moved their exam to Friday, but it will likely be further moved to Monday due to the SRC presentation of the magazine campaign.
