Period 1--ELA B 30
Today, we looked at some of the reading objectives we have been working toward. We then moved onto our assignment for the day. This required the students to be split up into groups. Each group was assigned a speech from the play and they had to identify and explain the dramatic irony found in their passage. They will be doing a writing assignment with Oedipus Rex and then we will be finished with the play.
Period 2--ELA B 30/AP 30 split
Same as in period 1.
The AP kids were given their AP Resource Booklet--this will help them to prepare and succeed in an AP classroom, especially when they start writing essays. Tomorrow, the AP kids will be doing a writing assignment that will vary somewhat from that of the regular class. Their paths will be diverging for the next little bit.
Period 3--Pre-AP 10
The students worked on their character analysis today. If they didn't get it finished, they must do so for homework. We'll continue with reading the play tomorrow.
Period 4--History 10
Miss Campbell taught this class (and will be doing so for the forseeable future!). She is doing an excellent job so far. The class examined the concept of standard of living a bit further. To re-introduce the topic, they had some discussion questions to respond to and share. They then had a handout with some blanks to fill in. The handout compared the standard of living between today and 16-18th century. They then had to write a paragraph explaining what the standard of living is in their own words and summarizing the comparison by using various indicators.
Period 5--History 30
We finished out handout on Parts of Govenrnment. Then the students looked at a power point presentation which went over this info with a bit more detail.
