Period 1--ELA B 30:
We finished going over dramatic irony in the play and I introduced the writing assignment.  It follows the six elements of tragedy and the students have to examine the play and find examples of those elements in the play.  At this point, all they have to do is fill in an outline.  Eventually, although not with this play, they will move passed outlines and write a full formal essay.  There are handouts to accompany this.

Period 2--ELA B 30/AP 30
We just finsihed going over all the examples of dramatic irony.  Tomorrow I will introduce the writing assignment.  It will be different for the AP students than those in the regular half of the class.

JANIKKA IS ON THE BLUES NEWS FOR NEXT WEEK!

Period 3--Pre-AP 10
We are back to reading the play today.  We got through Act II, scene i and ii with some discussion.  When Macbeth had his "dagger" soliloquy, we stopped and worked with a handout to paraphrase this speech.  Before the bell rang, we just read the Porter's soliloquy in Act II, scene iii.  The handout also has this speech on it and the students were just working at filling in some blanks to figure out what they think it may mean!  We'll take it up tomorrow.

Period 4--History 10
The students were looking at the concept of infrastructure today.  Miss Campbell put them through their paces with a concept map to introduce it all, some board notes, discussion and a little review mulitple choice.  Those students who hadn't yet received a review sheet, realized this and finally picked one up.  A few of their assignments were handed back.  Students were reminded to get their outstanding assignments handed in or they will be spending some time in the Homework Support Centre.

THE EXAM HAS BEEN MOVED FROM THURSDAY TO NOW BEING WRITTEN ON FRIDAY.  THIS IS DUE TO THE DRIVER TRAINING SCHEDULE.

Period 5--History 30:
We finished the power point on government.  This part looked at how a bill is passed into law.  We also discussed whether or not the queen should be kept as Canada's official head of state.  There were opinions on both sides.  We then played a review game where the kids got to throw a squishy ball at the SMART board to open up questions for them to answer.  We are mostly finished with this unit, so the students chose their exam to be next Wednesday.  This is subject to change if we still have a bit more ground to cover before then.

REMINDER THAT STUDENTS DON'T HAVE SCHOOL ON MONDAY, SEPT. 26TH DUE TO A PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAY FOR THE TEACHERS.
