Period 1--ELA B 30
We looked at the concept of Identity as part of the theme for the grade 12 course. After brainstorming various aspects that affect personality, the students created a concept map about their own personality. After this, they had to put this information into paragraph format. We looked at a sample and discussed how to use transitional words and phrases. This was due at the end of the class.
Morgan Thorstad is writing for the Blues News next week.
Period 2--ELA B 30/AP 30
We tied in with the idea of identity from last week and discussed various concepts that we'll be studying in Oedipus Rex. We had some interesting conversations about concepts of truth, and perception. We started a power point that goes into the background of sophism and intellectual argument. We will begin reading the play tomorrow.
Period 3--Pre-AP ELA 10
We finished the "curse" powerpoint with some fun facts about the various bad things that have happened to productions of Macbeth. We then looked at a fictional newspaper of events that happen in the first part of the play. We also looked at horoscopes and talked about prophesy vs. free will and the idea of self-fulfilling prophecies. Textbooks were handed out (one per pair). I have others, but they are written in, and I wanted the kids to start "fresh." We'll be reading the play tomorrow.
Period 4--History 10
The students have a handout on Medieval times that has various blanks that they need to fill out. Once they have the blanks filled in, we discuss the content. After we finsihed Medieval times, they will have to write a paragraph describing the Middle Ages by identifying one word that covers it all. We'll do this tomorrow. Timeline--due Thursday Sept 8th.
Period 5--History 30
We worked on our map assignemnt. They will get one more class to work on this in class.
