Period 1--ELA B 30
I went over a few guidance type things with the kids and gave them a handout with timelines of things that they should be considering if they are looking at post-secondary schooling. Mr. Sandbeck will be with them Wednesday for a guidance period during their regular ELA class to administer a CAPS/COPES/COPS informational, aptitude type test for them. The students then used the rest of the class to finsih up their reading assessment. This is due Monday if they didn't get it done in class.
Period 2--ELA B 30
I went over a few guidance type things with the kids and gave them a handout with timelines of things that they should be considering if they are looking at post-secondary schooling. Mr. Sandbeck will be with them Wednesday for a guidance period during their regular ELA class to administer a CAPS/COPES/COPS informational, aptitude type test for them. They then finished working on their connections assignment from reading "By Any Other Name." They'll be doing a reading assessment on Monday.
AP 30--This was their last class to work on their persuasive essay. Most seemed to be moving well on this. A reminder to them that their Oedipus Rex essay is due on Monday. The persuasive essay can be due the following Tuesday (Oct 11) to give them some time to catch up. On Monday, we start going over Frankenstein, so they need to have that read.
Period 3--Pre-AP 10
We had this class for the Terry Fox walk/run. Students are reminded and encouraged to bring a toonie if they didn't bring one on Friday.
Period 4--History 10
We had a couple of students who presneted their current events. I am really enjoying these. It creates interesting converstations in class. Miss Campbell then took the students to the computer lab to finish up their last class on their textbook assignment. We'll be moving on to something new on Monday, so students will have to finsih this on their own time.
Period 5--History 30
The first half of this class was set used to reminding the kids about the magazine campaign. We had Jim, the Magazine Guy in and he presented to the gr 10, 11, and 12s about the importance of participating. Money was given away, dancing was attempted, and hopefully the kids left the gym intent on selling a few magazines. This is a great fundraiser for our school. For the second half of the class, I played jeapordy with the gr. 12s to get them ready for their exam on Monday. It was supposed to be Friday, but with losing half the class to the magazine campaign, I didn't think it was fair to start it so late in the class. THE EXAM WILL BE MONDAY!!!!!
