Period 1--ELA B 30
The students worked on their assignment that follows "The Story of an Hour." They had to read the story and choose 5 of the underlined words and record their impressions of those underlined words or phrases. After they were done that step to their satisfaction, they were to choose 5 different underlined words or phrases and look at a yellow sheet that has questions for each underlined phrase attached to it. They can then answer those questions. These are higher level questions that require the students to think about the story in a deeper manner.
Period 2--ELA B 30/AP 30 split
ELA B 30--As above for the period 1 grade 12s
AP 30--We finished going over the power point on Frankenstein. The kids will be going over the essay prompts with me tomorrow and that will hopefully help clear up some questions they have about the meaning behind some of the questions.
Period 3--Pre-AP 10
WE FINISHED READING MACBETH!!! It is a good play and the students finally saw how the prophecies all tied up together at the end. We started going over a power point that has some more specific information about the play and how similies, metaphors, hyperbole, rhyme and rythm can be important to a deeper understanding of the play. We will finish this power point tomorrow.
Period 4--History 10
I was pretty happy to be able to teach these guys for a change as I was acting as Miss Campbell's substitute. We went over some questions that they had to do yesterday and discussed information about the command, traditional and market economies. We spoke about how to write an open book exam. The "textbooks" the students made were handed out and then we played Jeopardy to help study together for their exam tomorrow.
Period 5--History 30
As usual, this was a good class with interesting conversation. We continued to go over the handout we received yesterday and go to the end of it. AFter this, each student was to write down 10 pieces of information they learned in the handout. We were just going over this info together as a class when the bell rang. In essence, we are creating study notes for them.
