It was an exciting start to the day with the massive storm last night that left us with out power. Nevertheless, the show must go on and the students showed up anyway! Fortunately, the power came back on within half an hour so it was business as usual.
Period 1--ELA 20
We finished discussing the news article on rural schools out performing urban schools in Saskatchewan. We looked at the information given as well as the information that was omitted. We had some good discussion about the differences between the two types of schools. In addition, we looked at the actual report the article was talking about and it cleared up a few questions as well as sparked a few more. Before the end of the class, they were given a handout with nursery rhymes to see if they could infer the information from there. We didn't get far into this, so we'll continue tomorrow.
Period 2--AP 30
Our discussion of Alias Grace continued with some interesting insights about the novel. The students continued working on their assignment.
Period 3--ELA B 30
They had this class to work on their persuasive essay. I was able to find a sample to show them, and even though it was weak, they got the general idea of how to formulate and structure the paper.
Period 4--AP 10
They continued working on their Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde essay.
Period 5--Mentor period
This was a work period for the students.
