May 30, 2014

As we get closer to the end of the school year, it seems we get busier and busier.  This is what Friday looked like while I was away at an AP meeting.

Period 1—ELA 20
We are working on inferencing and have gone through charts and newspaper articles.  They were given a handout on nursery rhymes yesterday and were supposed to try to infer the real meaning.  After they have a few more minutes to infer the meanings, give them the “real” options and discuss.  It would be fun if they could make up a nursery rhyme about an issue or even (the big storm).  The students came up with a limerick!

Period 2—AP 30/ELA A 30
They are working on a Canadian novel/Canadian short story assignment.  They can continue working on this.

Period 3—ELA B 30
They are working on their Chaucer persuasive essay.  They had this class to try to complete it.

Period 4—AP 10
They are working on either their Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde annotations or their Fahrenheit 451 essay.

Period 5 & 6—AP 20

We are in Act III of The Crucible.  We continued our reading to the end of the act and then the students had a "cause and effect" worksheet for it.
