The last month of school! We're nearing the home stretch!

Period 1--ELA B 30
I reminded them of their due date for the persuasive essay, which is Monday, June 9th.  We then started in on the novel Night by Elie Wiesel.  We looked at some images from the Holocaust and World War II to give the students a visual understanding of some of the situations that Wiesel recounts.  We started reading the first chapter but will continue with this tomorrow.

Period 2 & 3--AP 30
They were reminded of their due dates for the Canadian literature assignment with is June 16th.  I introduced the novel April Raintree for them where we looked at some stereotypes of First Nations people in Canada and then discussed various events through Canadian history such as treaties and residential schools.  We are reading this orally, as a break from the rigour of the past several months.

Period 4--ELA 20
We are looking at some poetry from Gordie Carle, a poet from LaRonge, Sk.  We read a few together and the students have some assignments to do with the poetry.

Period 5--AP 10
We did our literary devices quiz.  Then, we started in on A Midsummer Night's Dream.  I wrote down a character map and gave a brief outline of the story and we got down to business with reading the play.
