Period 1--ELA B 30
We continued our discussion from last Wednesday (from before the storm hit and then I was missing for two days) about the evolution of the English language.  Today we examined "Caedmon's Hymn" and discussed the concept of heroes through a concept attainment lesson.  We read a handout in the booklet about the History of Language and also learned about the literary device of kennings by making up a few of our own.  The students were given an anticipation guide but weren't quite able to complete it so that will be on the menue for tomorrow.

Period 2--AP 20
The students were given a handout with some of their writing sins from their recent essays on them and we discussed them quickly.  We are entering into exam preparation mode.  With that in mind, we started going over, in detail, their January exam which was an old AP exam.  We just finished analyzing the poetry passage and the students had made up their thesis statements as if they were going to write the essay. 

Period 3--AP 10
We did a listening exercise with "The Legend of the Qu'Appelle" by E. Pauline Johnson.  The students listened first for content, then for imagery.  Finally, they were given a copy of the poem and finished their search for imagery. 

Period 4--History 10
This class was used to finish up the handout on the traditional Iroquoian society.  We read this together and went through it.  Then, we completed the Venn Diagram comparing the two cultures.  Finally, we wrote two statements that defined the paradigms for each of the cutlures.
