Period 1--ELA B 30
We finished reading "By Any Other Name" and did a bit of discussion as we went along. The students were given a handout with some questions on the story. As well, we looked at a short poem and how to paraphrase. In amongst this, there were some grad issues that needed to be taken care of, so we addressed those.
Period 2--AP 30
There were some grad issues that needed to be taken care of, so we addressed those. Then, we moved into our study of The Great Gatsby. Most students didn't mind this novel, very few, if any, loved it, and a few hated it, so we spent some time discussing their reasons for their reactions. After this, we started with a power point discussing some of the main points of the story. We will finish our discussion and move into the assignment tomorrow.
Period 3--AP 10
In order to get ready for a Sun West reading assessment, we did some review of reading strategies. I also introduced them to their formative assessment on Canada's worst maritime disaster. They just started to have a look at the reading assessment when the bell rang, so we will finish this tomorrow.
Period 4--History 10
We finished the notes from yesterday and then went over them together. The students did a couple of multiple choice questions and then we started in with a text book assigment that they will have time to complete tomorrow and Friday.
