Period 1--ELA B 30
We took up the questions for the short story "By Any Other Name" and then moved into something to introduce the poem "Identity." I split the students up into four different groups with two groups being "weeds" and two groups being "flowers." Each group has to come up with all of the best things about being a weed or a flower and then anticipate what the other groups might say that are good or bad about their own group. This is in preparation for an informal debate where we will determine if it is better to be a weed or a flower.
Period 2--AP 30
The Great Gastby discussion finished up with a power point and then I introduced the assignment of a fever chart. We went over the handout that explains both what a fever chart is and the process the students need to follow to get the most out of it.
Period 3--AP 10
The continued with their reading assessment (formative) about the Empress of Ireland. Once completed, we will tackle this together to see the various levels of responses and how that can translate to their standardized test before Easter.
Period 4--History 10
The students continued their textbook work and will finish it up tomorrow.
