March 20, 2013

Well, despite the fact that it's the first day of spring, we have a heck of a snow/wind storm happening causing the buses to cancel for the afternoon.  Nevertheless, we got through the day, but whether or not we have any buses running tomorrow will remain to be seen!

Here is what we accomplished today:

Period 1--ELA B 30
I gave the students some time to complete their assignment from yesterday.  Most of the kids were finishing up and then quietly moved to reading their novel to wait for others to finish.  As the rest completed the assignment, we moved into introducing a bit of a study of the English langauge.  The students were read passages from Old, Middle, and Modern English to hear the differences in the language.  We also looked at some of the spelling we've retained from Old English even though the pronunciation is quite different in modern times.

Period 2--AP 30
They continued to work diligently on their Fever Charts.  We will be moving on next week.

Period 3--AP 10
The students finished up their Sun West Reading Assessment.  As they finished this up, they moved into working on their Fever Chart.  Many are starting to plot the data from their research.

Period 4--History 10
We moved into the computer lab to do a research assignment on an important invention from the Industrial Revolution.  They will have to use their time wisely as we are only able to get into the computer lab today and tomorrow.
