Happy Hallowe'en!
Period 1 & 2--ELA B 30 & AP 30
We finsihed answering the questions for Beowulf. These were straight comprehension questions. AFter we finished with the questions, the students read the poetry version of the "Battle with Grendel" where they were to notice the alliteration and kennings. The students will work on a "boast" assignment that they will have to perform for the class.
Period 3--Pre-AP 10
We back-tracked to Of Mice and Men and determined several themes that were a part of this novella. We then moved to a power point where we spoke about characterization. We will continue this tomorrow.
Period 4--History 10
We had an assembly to congratulate the success of OHS with the magazine campaign. The students met, and exceeded, their goal. Prizes were given away and games were played with the winners and their prizes.
Period 5--History 30
We continued to examine the Seven Years and the outcomes from it. This lead to the Royal Proclamation. The students were in the middle of a cloze exercise examining information about this document. We'll continue this tomorrow.
This is a blog designed to help students keep aware of what was done in class either as a reminder or as information if they were absent. Parents are also welcome to keep track of what is going on in our classroom!

Period 1 & 2 --ELA B 30
The grade 12s had their ELA classes to work on their questions for Beowulf. Most of them seemed to be able to get their questions done this class. We'll take them up Monday.
Period 3--Pre-AP 10
This was their last class to work on their Macbeth essay. We will be starting on new activities on Monday.
Period 4--History 10
I wasn't at school today, so Miss McPhail observed Miss Campbell as she continued to go through the events of the American Revolution.
Period 5--History 30
The kids wrote their History exam that went from the point of contact to the begining of the Seven Year War.

Period 1--ELA B 30
We began running through the graphic novel of Beowulf today and they began answering comprehension questions with the story. They will continue answering these questions tomorrow.
Period 2--ELA B 30/AP 30
We continued to go over the questions from the anticipation guide. We will start reading the graphic novel tomorow and answering comprehension questions that go with it.
Period 3--Pre-AP 10
They have today and tomorrow to finish working on their Macbeth essays.
Period 4--History 10
Today the kids looked at the Declaration of Independence and had some questions to go with it. They then looked at the concepts of republican vs a monarchy.
Period 5--History 30
Today we went over a handout on the 7 Years War. We looked at the various knowledge objectives and some of the value objectives that the students will be examining as we look at the conflict between the French, British, and First Nations in North America and see how it escalates.

Period 1--ELA B 30
We finished going over the questions in the anticipation guide and had some great discussions. We started reading teh graphic novel of Beowulf. There are questions to accompany each section that they will read.
Period 2--ELA B 30/AP 30 split
We finished looking at the power point of heroes we started viewing yesterday. We came up with a definition of "hero" and then started in on the Anticipation guide to get the students' minds int othe right frame for the story.
Period 3--Pre-AP 10
This was their last class to work on their timed write. They had the rest of the class to work on their Macbeth essay. At the end of the week, we are DONE with Macbeth!
Period 4--History 10
We spent the first half of the class doing a town clean-up as part of our Activity Week. Miss Campbell then continued to review some of the information they have taken about the American Revolution by going over some questions they had. They spoke about various battles that took place and the students were able to view an excellent instructional video on "the shot heard around the world" and the "Battle of Lexington."
Period 5--History 30
We had a few handouts today--the first one looked at the deportation of Acadians and the problems between the French and the English. This brought us to examine the various worldviews of the French, English and Iroquois (as representatives of the First Nations). To drive the point home about how little these three worldviews had in common, we did a three-circle Venn Diagram. This clearly illustrated that there was little common ground between these three groups.

Period 1--ELA B 30
We looked at a power point of various people who can be considered heroes in society. After viewing this, we looked at common characterisitcs these people share. From this, we built a definition that the students filled in on an Anticipation Guide to get them ready to read the graphic novel of Beowulf. We were just going over the questions together as a class when the bell rang, so we'll finish up tomorrow.
Period 2--ELA B 30/AP 30 split
Both classes are working together again for now. We reviewed the idea of Old, Middle and Modern English and then read a few pages from the History of Language Booklet I made up for them. We just got through the power point of heroes (see above) and will discuss that tomorrow.
Period 3--Pre-AP 10
The students spent this period working on their timed write "re-do." They can continue this tomorrow. I have told them that I want to be completely DONE with Macebth by the end of the week. We have missed som many classes due to driver training and other events, that it seems like it has dragged on way too long.
Period 4--History 10
The students looked at the Intolerable Acts of the American Revolution today. There were some board notes and handouts that the students should get just in case they missed the class today.
Period 5--History 30
The kids watched the rest of the educational video on New France. This took about half of the class. We then went over everything that we have studied thus far in this unit and made some board notes. They are all well aware that they have an exam on Friday! Tehy seem to have a really good grasp of this information!

Period 1--ELA B 30
We had a presentation from the University of Regina and Woodland College today in period 1 for all grade 11s & 12s.
Period 2--ELA B 30/AP 30
ELA B 30--These students did a listening assessment today for the first half of the class. For the last half we came together as a whole class to look at the History of Language as we get ready to examine Beowulf.
AP 30--For the first half of the class, the AP students had time to work on their Frankenstein essay. For the last half of the class, we came together and will be together with the whole class for the next month or so.
The students were exposed to Old, Middle, and Modern English and we've started to have a quick look at how the language has evolved over time.
Period 3--Pre-AP 10
For the first half of the period, the students were called down to the gym to be introduced to Activity Week that is starting this week, We were split up into our 4 teams and had some tug of wars to determine the strongest team of the school. After Mr. Michalchuk explained the activities for the week, we went back to class. The grade 10s were given their Macbeth timed writes back with lots of feedback on it. We then went through a number of their "writing sins" and spoke about how to correct some of these issues.
Period 4--History 10
The students used this class in the computer lab to finish working on their newspaper assignment. Most of the students finished this during the class.
Period 5--History 30
We corrected the questions that we started on Friday. After this, we watched an instructional video to supplement some of the information that the students learned throughout the first part of this unit. We will finish watching this tomorrow and then do some more review. The students had to fill out a 3-2-1 sheet (3 things they learned, 2 things that surprised them, and then 1 thing that they still have a question about). As a reminder...they have an exam on Friday (point of contact to Life in New France).

Period 1--ELA B 30
We're starting in on Beowulf, so before we get there, we have to look at the evolution of the English language. There is a booklet the students were able to view examples of Old, Middle and Modern English as well as the various contributions other cutlures have made to our language. We also discussed the importance of the printing press on the standardization of the English language. Some of the things focussed on today--alliteration and kennings.
Period 2--ELA B 30/AP 30 split
ELA B 30--They had this class to finsih their "Identity" assignment. It is due Monday.
AP 30--They worked on their Frankenstein essay. The due date is set for Nov 7.
Period 3--Pre-AP 10
They worked on their Macbeth essay. Many of them are making considerable progress. They will have time to continue this on Monday. The due date is set for this for Nov. 14th.
Period 4--History 10
I was able to teach this class today as Miss Campbell was away at conference which was a lot of fun for me! We discussed Dialectic Thinking using a real-life issue in the classroom. Then, we looked at the two viewpoints of the colonits vs. the patriots. The students were given an assignment where they had to choose ONE viewpoint (either colonist or patriot) and write a newspaper article from that point of view.
Period 5--History 30
We finished off our dicussion of New France and for the last few minutes, the kids were given the chance to work on some questions that should work as a review of the information. The students also decided they wanted an exam soon so all the info didn't get overwhelming, so next Friday (Oct 29th) we will look at explorers, first nations, contact, New France and New England.

Period 1--ELA B 30
The students worked so well yesterday on their "Identity" assignment and weren't quite finished, so I gave them half of this class to finish things up. I've set the due date for Monday, October 24. I also encourage them all to finish up any overdue assignments. They have been pretty good about trying to get these in. For the second half of the class, the students did a listening assessment. I read them a very short story and they had to respond to some questions about it.
Period 2--ELA B 30/AP 30 split
ELA B 30
These kids are a bit behind period 1 simply because with two classes working simulatenously in one room on different things, my instructional time just isn't as efficient as I'd like it to be. They used this whole class to work on their "Identity" assignment. It seems that still are several days behind in this class and need to get caught up.
AP 30
They continue to work on their Frankenstein essay.
Period 3--Pre-AP 10
And....it begins! They are on their own now, working on their Macbeth essay. I spent quite a bit of time individually helping students get started.
Period 4--History 10
To be honest, I left Miss Campbell alone in my room today to get a feel of the classroom with out me in it, so I'm not 100% sure of all the activities they accomplished. They definitely looked at the different points of view of the American Coloniests vs. the British authority. They will need to understand this for their next assignment. They did have a few notes, so if anyone was missing, they'll have to get caught up. Mrs. Sobkowicz told me it was an excellent lesson, so I'm a bit jealous I couldn't be there to observe it!
Period 5--History 30
We continued our look at what brought people to the new world and kept them here. We focussed mostly on NewFrance today and will continue with this tomorrow. There are notes from the SMART board presentation I gave that students were required to write down. Just a reminder--the kids need to get their fur trade webquest in.

Period 1--ELA B 30
The students had their last class to work on their "Identity" assignment. I am really pleased at the effort they are putting into this assignment. We will set a due date for it tomorrow when I see where everyone is at.
Period 2--ELA B 30/AP 30 split
ELA B 30--Same as above--working on their "Identity" assignment. A reminder that Trevor Tomachek is on the Blues News next week.
AP 30--They had this class to work on their Frnakenstein essay and will have time for this for the rest of the week. A reminder for all those that didn't have their persuasive essays finished--I'd like them in by Thursday.
Period 3--Pre-AP 10
It was a bit of a dry class as we finished going over how to write a formal essay--Mrs. Tulp style! They will work on their Macbeth essay tomorrow.
Period 4--history 10
Miss Campbell had them correct their mutliple choice from yesterday. Then they thought about how they would feel if the Canadian government all of a sudden decided to charge one cent for every text sent. Of course they would be furious--this equates to what the American colonists felt when they were being taxed for a number of things that were necessary for them. This idea was further established through a simulation with Skittles where they had 10 Skittles to start with but kept being "taxed" and had to give up Skittles for various little things. The students had to take down some notes on taxation and then spent the rest of the period working on a journal entry.
Period 5--History 30
We finished the handout we started last Friday. The students were also told that their fur trade webquest is due on Thursday. After this, we finsihed the RAN chart we started at the start of this unit on the Point of Contact between First Nations and Europeans where we looked at what we learned and asked questions about things that still confused us or new questions it raised.

Period 1--ELA B 30
The student were introduced to the assignment that goes with the poem "Identity" on Friday where they had to determine if they were a weed or a flower. It's pretty corny, but it does help them work on figurative writing by estabilishing and maintaining an extended metaphor. They had time to really look at the poem with me and they spent the period working on this assignment. They also have to create a visual representation of their choice of plant with which they identify.
Period 2--ELA B 30
ELA B 30--same as above
AP 30--we continued to go through a refresher course of how to write a full formal essay. They will have most of the rest of the week to work on this essay.
Period 3--Pre-AP 10
We deconstructed the essay prompts that they have for Macbeth and put them in language that makes more sense to them. We then went on to go through how to write a formal essay. They will get most of the rest of this week to write this essay.
Period 4--History 10
Miss Campbell introduced the American Revolution. They started out with a clip from teh Disney movie Pocahantos ("More, more, more" on You Tube) and the students had to think about what are the connections between this movie clip and the American Revolutions. The students determined that empirialism was at the root and they worked at defining that term. Then there were some cloze notes on the Thirteen Colonies. Switching it up, Miss Campbell had the kids work together in a jigsaw activity (New England, Middle, and Southern Colonies). To finish off the class, they looked at another You Tube clip called the "Jamestown video."
Period 5--History 30
We had this last class to finish up the Fur Trade webquest that they started a number of days ago.

Period 1--ELA B 30
The students were given an opportunity to finish their assignment on "The Story of an Hour." For those that were finished, I introduced the next assignment that focusses on the concept of identity--the students have to determine whether they are a weed or flower. This is a bit of a corny assignment, but it does help the kids grasp the concept of comparison through metaphors and similies. They have to choose what plant they think they are and write a descriptive paragraph and provide a representation of their choice.
Period 2--ELA B 30/AP 30 split
NOTE: I really appreciate these kids' ability to be able to work independently while I deal with the other half of the class.
ELA B 30--as above from period 1.
AP 30--We looked at all the essay prompts and broke them down and discussed various ways the kids could tackle these questions.
Period 3--Pre-AP 10
We finished the power point on Macbeth and disussed some of the finer points of the play. They were given their essay prompts and we are starting to go through "The Dreaded Essay Handbook." They will be working on this essay next week.
Period 4--History 10
Miss Campbell administed the exam for the Industrial Revolution. They will start in on the American Revolution next week.
Period 5--History 30
We finished discussing important points from their last handout. We had a new handout discussing French colonization of North America, Acadia, and British Colonization.
I hope everyone has a great weekend!

The students worked on their assignment that follows "The Story of an Hour." They had to read the story and choose 5 of the underlined words and record their impressions of those underlined words or phrases. After they were done that step to their satisfaction, they were to choose 5 different underlined words or phrases and look at a yellow sheet that has questions for each underlined phrase attached to it. They can then answer those questions. These are higher level questions that require the students to think about the story in a deeper manner.
Period 2--ELA B 30/AP 30 split
ELA B 30--As above for the period 1 grade 12s
AP 30--We finished going over the power point on Frankenstein. The kids will be going over the essay prompts with me tomorrow and that will hopefully help clear up some questions they have about the meaning behind some of the questions.
Period 3--Pre-AP 10
WE FINISHED READING MACBETH!!! It is a good play and the students finally saw how the prophecies all tied up together at the end. We started going over a power point that has some more specific information about the play and how similies, metaphors, hyperbole, rhyme and rythm can be important to a deeper understanding of the play. We will finish this power point tomorrow.
Period 4--History 10
I was pretty happy to be able to teach these guys for a change as I was acting as Miss Campbell's substitute. We went over some questions that they had to do yesterday and discussed information about the command, traditional and market economies. We spoke about how to write an open book exam. The "textbooks" the students made were handed out and then we played Jeopardy to help study together for their exam tomorrow.
Period 5--History 30
As usual, this was a good class with interesting conversation. We continued to go over the handout we received yesterday and go to the end of it. AFter this, each student was to write down 10 pieces of information they learned in the handout. We were just going over this info together as a class when the bell rang. In essence, we are creating study notes for them.

Period 1 & 2--ALL GRADE 12s
Mr. Sanbeck assures me that they are now finished all the testing for the CAPS, COPS, and COPES testing. They do have one to finish on their own time, but it should be back to ELA classes as per usual tomorrow (I hope!!!!).
Period 3--Pre-AP 10
We're back into Macbeth. We finished reading to the end of Act V, scene v. The kids had one hand in assignment which was to paraphrase one of Macbeth's famous soliloquies. We've been practicing how to do this, so now it's up to them to show me how well they can do so. We will finish reading the play tomorrow and then there will be a power point with some important points about Macbeth. The dreaded full formal essay is on the horizon (next week) as well.
Period 4--History 10
The students debriefed the bead game from yesterday to gain a better understanding of command, traditional and market economies. They also looked at the Gross National Product--what it means with some notes. A reminder to the students who don't have their textbook pages in to get them in so the kids can study them for their exam on Friday.
Period 5--History 30
We couldn't get into the computer lab to finish the webquest, so we continued with a handout that discusses European exploration and different worldviews (French and Iroquois as examples of European and First Nations). The economic theory of mercantilism was discussed and its importance stressed to the students. We will finish this handout tomorrow.

I wasn't at school today (again) as I was in Regina for a meeting. Mrs. Adleman was in for me, so it was a "win-win" for everyone!
Period 1 & 2--Grade 12 ELA
Mr. Sandbeck was in to do a few more of those guidance counsellor aptitude tests.
ELA B 30
When they were finsihed, they were given a story "The Story of an Hour" to read. There were three parts to this assignment and the students mostly just finsihed the first part of this assignment.
AP 30s
When Mr. Sandbeck finished, they were allowed some time to work on their Frankenstein essay.
Period 3--Pre-AP 10
The kids were given a class period to do some creative writing connected with Macbeth. Most of them finished this and it will be homework. We'll continue reading the play tomorrow.
Period 4--History 10
Miss Campbell led the kids through an economic simulation known as the bead game. This saw the kids split up into groups and given some specific resources. They then had to make bracelets in a specific way. These limitations (or lack thereof) mimics the command, traditional and market economies.
Period 5--History 30
The kids went to the computer lab and worked on a webquest about the fur trade. I can't get them into the computer lab until next Monday, so we'll continue on other information until then!

Wow--Sorry for the late update! We had family over for Thanksgiving and I was frantically cleaning and cooking, so I forgot about the blog!
This is what we did on Friday:
Period 1 & 2 Grade 12 ELA
We used this as a "clean-up" class. The kids had a number of assignments still outstanding, so it was time to get things cleared up so we can start fresh on Tuesday.
Assignments that they were working on in "regular" ELA B 30:
Making connections in reading: "By Any Other Name"
Reading Assessment: "Shooting an Elephant"
Entrance slip: "The Nose"
Fictional Journal Entry: "The Nose"
The AP students have the following assignments:
Oedipus Rex essay (elements of a tragedy)
Persuasive essay on Classical literature
They have the essay options for Frankenstein, but we're not quite there yet. I'd like to go over the prompts with the kids, but if they are ahead of the game, they can get started.
Period 3--Pre-AP 10
These guys used this class to finsih their first timed write. They finished.
Period 4--History 10
Miss Campbell had the kids look at how commercials play a role in the market economy. They then had some notes on supply and demand and looked at a chart about economics. Finally, they played jeopardy with economics.
Period 5--History 30
There were quite a few handouts for this class. We finished discussing the origins of the First Nations in North America, we then looked at what prompted the Europeans to explore and expand in North America. We also looked at the 4 different ways two cultures can acculturate to one another: anhiliation, segregation, assimilation, and accomodation. We looked at various examples of two cultures dealing with each other throughout history and a brief overview of how the First Naitons and Europeans have handled their cultural differences.

Period 1--ELA B 30
The students continued to work on their fictional journal entry related to the short story "The Nose." Most were close to finishing this. Mr. Sandbeck came in at the end of the class and did another skill assessment for the students.
Period 2--ELA B 30
The students did two more skill assessments for Mr. Sandbeck at the beginning of the class. Then, they were to use this class to finish up outstanding assignments (both the AP and ELA B 30 classes). The AP kids have: their Oedipus REx essay that was due last Monday, their persuasive essay due Tuesday after Thanksgiving, and once we finsih Frankenstein, they will have a full formal essay to be working on. The ELA B 30's have their Oedipus Rex outline, their connections from the short story "By Any Other Name," their reading assessment from "Shooting an Elephant" and if they finished all that, they have an entrance slip about plastic surgery, reading "The Nose" and then a fictional journal entry.
Period 3--Pre-AP 10
The students were able to use this class to work on their first timed write. Mr. McJannet was in for me while I was working with my intern, and he was able to show them a two-page timed write he did during the class. They will get more time to finish this off tomorrow.
Period 4--History 10
Miss Campbell took them through supply and demand with various readings and questions. They reviewed the Command and Traditional economies and were introduced to the Market economy. They examined this information together and there were a few "exit" questions for them to do to show their understanding of the concepts.
Period 5--History 30
We're jumping into this unit and primarily discussing the First Nations of Canada at the point of contact. There are a few handouts for the kids to have and we will continue these very interesting discussions tomorrow.

Period 1 & 2 (All grade 12s)
Mr. Sandbeck requested these two periods so he could talk to the grade 12s to give them some guidance information. He went through some aptitude tests and some other information and activities to help students make decisions about their future career paths. He's not quite finished, so he will complete the rest sometime next week.
Period 3--Pre-AP 10
It wasn't a very exciting class, but instructive. We are done Act IV of Macbeth but need to start donig some writing in timed situations (these replace standard tests that the students might be more used to). I gave them all an AP Resource Booklet that I made up. It has a number of handouts that should help them with their writing. We went over how to create a thesis statement and to connect arguements to that thesis statment. There is an exemplar in the Booklet that we will continue going over tomorrow and then the kids will get a chance to do their own timed write.
Period 4--History 10
Miss Campbell wants to remind everyone that the role playing assignment is due tomorrow. They did some notes on scarcity as well as a reading on traditional and command markets. There was a reading guide to go with the reading to help keep the kids on track and then a coupld of multiple choice questions to see if they were paying attention.
Period 5--History 30
We finsihed going over some of the ideas that the kids had from yesterday as to what they thought they knew about the point of contact between First Nations and the Europeans. We examined what were facts about what they thought they knew and what were misconceptions. This led into some very interesting conversations about Native/European relations at the point of contact and how they have expanded to today. Treaties were discussed at some length and the students are going to work at keeping an open mind in class. We had a handout introducing the unit and then a handout examining the positive and negative effects for both the European and First Nations.

Period 1--ELA B 30
We finished reading "The Nose" today. The students were then given a writing assignment where they have to create a fictional journal entry. They have to picture what it would be like if they were considered incredibly beautiful in their home culture, only to have that culture removed from them. Their new culture considers them ugly and they must fight to survive. In their 3 journal entries, they are to consider what it must be like to experience that and think about what impact that may have on their identity. Each of the 3 journal entries should be approximatley 1/2 to 3/4 of a page.
Period 2--ELA B 30
The students used this class to finish their reading assessment of "Shooting An Elephant." Once they finish this, they were to comment on an orange handout I gave them about their opinions of plastic surgery. They should then share this opinion with someone else who will comment on whether they agree or disagree with that opinion. Finally, they should read the short story "The Nose."
AP 30s--we continued viewing the Frankenstein power point. There are some good coversations about this.
Period 3--Pre-AP 10
We finished reading Act IV. I also gave them their character analyses back to them with a lot of feedback. Students are encouraged to view their feedback before their next piece of writing. Speaking of which, their next piece of writing will be what we call a "timed write." In the next day or two, we'll figure out how to write a timed write (essentially an in-class essay) and how to use resources of language effectively to support a thesis.
Period 4--History 10
Miss Campbell went through their paradigm worksheets from yesterday to help make sure that the kids understand what the concept is about. They had other handouts with some questions that look at the Iroquois vs European worldview as well as the 16-18th centure worldview vs modern worldview in regards to economic decisions. Students should check with Miss Campbell if they missed class.
Period 5--History 30
We did a role playing excercize today to show the kids the challenges of the Eurpeans as well as the First Nations when the point of contact occurred. It was quite entertaining watching the traders try to figure out the new culture. We started a RAN chart whcih examines what the kids think they know about the point of contact and Canada's First Nations. We'll finish going over this tomorrow.

Period 1--ELA B 30--We spent some time looking at plastic surgery today as an introduction to a story we are reading. The students did an entry slip where they had to write their opinon about cosmetic sugery. They shared their responses with two other people in the room and then we discussed it together as a class. We started reading the short story "The Nose" which is about a Buddhist priest who has an incredibly long nose and the lengths (pun intended!) he goes to in order to make it more normal. We weren't quite finished reading the story, but will do so tomorrow and then we'll do a bit of creative writing.
Period 2--ELA B 30
The regular ELA students were sent to Mr. Sob's room to work on a Reading Assessment for the story "Shooting and Elephant." This was individual and they will get a chance to finish it tomorrow if they aren't quite finished.
AP 30s--The Oedipus Rex essay was due today. We started discussing Frankenstein. We had a review quiz (that didn't count for marks) and then got into some of the particulars of the story. There is a power point with this information that we will continue to go over tomorrow.
Period 3--Pre-AP 10
We finsihed correcting the multiple choice from a few days ago. For the most part, they did well. This is a practice for those some multiple choice we'll do at the end. We then continued with reading the play. We're almost finsihed Act IV, scene iii.
Period 4--History 10
Their exams were given back at the beginning of class. There were a few 100% on the exam but there were some marks that weren't so stellar too. For those who didn't pass the knowledge part of the test, I've offered a verbal re-write for the kids to allow them to make up some marks. They need to make an appointment with me.
Miss Campbell went over the concept of paradigms with the kids and they looked at First Nations paradigms vs. European paradigms. There was a reading and a Venn diagram that needs to be finished for tomorrow.
Period 5--History 30
They wrote their Unit I test today. We start into the actual history of Canada tomorrow.

Period 1--ELA B 30
I went over a few guidance type things with the kids and gave them a handout with timelines of things that they should be considering if they are looking at post-secondary schooling. Mr. Sandbeck will be with them Wednesday for a guidance period during their regular ELA class to administer a CAPS/COPES/COPS informational, aptitude type test for them. The students then used the rest of the class to finsih up their reading assessment. This is due Monday if they didn't get it done in class.

AP 30--This was their last class to work on their persuasive essay. Most seemed to be moving well on this. A reminder to them that their Oedipus Rex essay is due on Monday. The persuasive essay can be due the following Tuesday (Oct 11) to give them some time to catch up. On Monday, we start going over Frankenstein, so they need to have that read.
Period 3--Pre-AP 10
We had this class for the Terry Fox walk/run. Students are reminded and encouraged to bring a toonie if they didn't bring one on Friday.
Period 4--History 10
We had a couple of students who presneted their current events. I am really enjoying these. It creates interesting converstations in class. Miss Campbell then took the students to the computer lab to finish up their last class on their textbook assignment. We'll be moving on to something new on Monday, so students will have to finsih this on their own time.
Period 5--History 30
The first half of this class was set used to reminding the kids about the magazine campaign. We had Jim, the Magazine Guy in and he presented to the gr 10, 11, and 12s about the importance of participating. Money was given away, dancing was attempted, and hopefully the kids left the gym intent on selling a few magazines. This is a great fundraiser for our school. For the second half of the class, I played jeapordy with the gr. 12s to get them ready for their exam on Monday. It was supposed to be Friday, but with losing half the class to the magazine campaign, I didn't think it was fair to start it so late in the class. THE EXAM WILL BE MONDAY!!!!!
