Period 1--ELA 20
We finished watching the last few minutes of Hoodwinked to cap off the point of view exercise. To assess, the students are allowed to choose any fairy tale with which they are familiar and write about it from a different character's point of view. We chose their fairy tales and then they had some time to start figuring out their plan of attack.
Period 2--AP 30/ELA A 30
AP 30: We finished with the Victorian Literature introduction and then moved on to look at "Porphyria's Lover" and "My Last Duchess" by Robert Browning as well as "How Do I Love Thee?" by Elizabeth Barrett Browning.
ELA A 30: They are working on their Canadian graphic poem
Period 3--ELA B 30
We went over the handout on how to write formal essays.
Period 4--AP 10
We needed a few minutes to finish our viewing of "The Veldt" and then we had the students who needed to do a short speech deliver their opinions about who was responsible for the deaths of George and Lydia in the story. After this, we started our study of "Who Killed Mr. Chippendale" which is a bit of a break from AP literature, but fun nonetheless.
Period 5 & 6--AP 20
We looked at conceits and analyzed John Donne's poem "The Bait" and then the groups were assigned a sonnet for them to analyze. We had just enough time to get together to consider the meaning of the three sonnets. We will analyze further on Thursday.
