Period 1--ELA 20
We began our point of view study by viewing Hoodwinked. We stopped periodically to fill out their worksheet to examine the various points of view displayed by the video.
Period 2--AP 30/ELA A 30
AP 30: We only had half the class to work on their Romantic poetry assignment or finish up their Great Gatsby essays.
ELA A 30: I introduced their next assignment which will be a graphic poem using the "I Am Canadian" rant from You Tube. We discussed the impact of the rant with just words, and then examined how it changed with the visuals. Then, I read "I Am a Canadian" by Duke Redbird. We discussed anaphora as well as other literary effects in the poem. Finally, I showed them the poem with visuals attached to the poem that turned it in a graphic poem. Their assignment will be to write their own poem, using anaphora as well as graphics in a similar style to Redbird's.
Period 3--ELA A 30
We had a guest speaker today so this class will be made up on Monday.
Period 4 & 5--AP 10
The students used the first class of the double to plan their debate and mock trial. The second class was used for the mock trial. The kids did very well for their first time doing this, and should certainly be proud of themselves. The verdict came out that Peter and Wendy were, in fact, guilty of the crime. The debate will go on Monday.
Period 6--AP 20
This was their last class to work on their essay. We are moving on come Tuesday!
