Period 1--AP 30
We finished discussing Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead. It certainly brought up some interesting notions of the ambiguity of language, the purpose in life, and the concept of truth. We just started in with Lord of the Flies when the bell rang to end class.
Period 2--Pre-AP 20
For the first bit of class, I took the kids who hadn't yet completed the course selection survey to the computer lab to do so. Then we did the mulitple choice questions that correspond with the short story, "Little Things." We corrected them together as a class, and that was pretty much the end of the period!
Period 3--ELA A 30
We corrected the questions for the play based on Medicine River together as a class. Once we wound that up, we re-visted the common stereotypes of Canada and then looked at a few commercials that highlight these stereotypes--notably, Tim Hortons and Molson Canadian commercials that do so. From here, we will be viewing Strange Brew to examine Canadian stereotypes in media.
Period 4--Pre-AP 10
We finished reading The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde today, so now the students will have a couple of days to annotate their chosen chapter.
