Period 1 & 2--AP 30
We continued with our discussion of the characters in the Prologue. We should be able to finish this up tomorrow.
Period 3--ELA A 30
This class was needed to finish up our discussion of the double entry journal from yesterday. We lost the first fifteen minutes of class or so with Mr. Sobkowicz needing to talk to the students about driving issues, lates, and cell phones, so we had to play catch up. We just finished our discussion as the bell rang.
Period 4--History 10
Mr. Wills took the students through the concept of infrastructure.
Period 5--AP 10
We finished reading Act II and then briefly summarized the events of the Act. Finally, the students were given a speech (of Lady Macbeth's from Act I) and we are going to continue our work on how to analyze poetry using this speech. We will develop a thesis statement from it and they will write their first timed write from this piece.
Period 6--AP 20
William Blake continued to be our focus topic for the period. We finished our analysis of the "Holy Thursday" poems. Their companion poem assignment was introduced; this requires the students to create their own poems (in partners) about a social issue and using many of Blake's techniques (irony, structure, tone, etc.). While they are working on their poems, half of them will be off reading to the Kindergarten kids as part of their speaking strand assessment. They are looking forward to mixing up with the little kids!
