Period 1--AP 30
The students are doing a timed write on Oedipus Rex to tie up our study of the play. This is a more challenging timed write that requires the students to compare two passages regarding tone and literary devices, so I will allow them some extra time to finish it up tomorrow.
Period 2--ELA A 30
The students started a bit of a study on the national anthem which turned into a History 30 lesson (Canadian History) about settlement, conquest, and compromise. We looked at the reason why the Official French Canadian anthem has such different words as well as the connection between the US National Anthem and Canada. Tomorrow we will look at the concept of political correctness.
Period 3--History 10
I was a substitute teacher in my own class today with Mr. Wills gone to a meeting. We started learning more about standard of living, and while I followed my sub plan, we didn't get very far because I kept adding information!
Period 4--AP 10
Before we get whole-heartedly into Macbeth, I interrupted the class to do a quick study on literary devices that will come in handy when they are starting in on some timed writes for the play. We studied 10 words using a kinesthetic method, and then 10 more with a visual method. It will be interesting to see which one works best for the students!
