Period 1--AP 30
During this class, the students were introduced to the History of the English language through examples of Old English, Middle English, and Modern English.  From there we examined a handout with information on the evolution and influences of the English language.  It did end up taking much of the class, but in the end, we're working our way to Beowulf!

Period 2 & 3--ELA A 30
This class saw us finishing up our discussion on political correctness, but we also looked at defining the idea of Canadian humour.  The students had to write a free verse poem of 10 lines that defined what it means to them to be Canadian.  In the second class of our double period, we began looking at the idea of metaphors; to help us along, we viewed the "Ogres are like onions" scene from Shrek as an example of a simile.  The students had to create similes about Canada.  We read the poem "Canada:  A Case History" by Earle Birney and looked for similes and metaphors.  We were just paraphrasing the poem when the bell rang to end the class.

Period 4--AP 10
We started reading Macbeth but didn't quite finish reading all of Act I.  We will continue this on Monday.

Period 5--History 10
Mr. Wills took the students through a presentation on the Agricultural Revolution.  They had a question at the end of the class to answer and hand in for him.
