February 24, 2014

Welcome Back from our week off!  With the weather not cooperating today and it being -42 to start the day, the buses weren't running which meant that many of our students extended their February break.  Fortunately, there was lots of work to be done to keep us all busy.  Rather than break it down by class and what we did, here is a list of assignments that are currently "on the books" that students should be cleaning up ASAP.  If there is no due date after the assignment, it was due already but still needs to be handed in.

  • Thesis statement practice
  • Modest proposal of a societal issue
  • reading Great Gatsby to be ready for next Monday
ELA B 30:
  • Introductory paragraph based on a response to one of the guiding questions on the syllabus.  The students also had to self assess from the given rubric.
  • Who are you?  This is a power point the students had to create to  indicate who they are.  It was based on an essay we read.
  • Precis on the essay "Who Are You?"
  • Persuasive essay agreeing or disagreeing with the ideas in the essay "What's Your Right Name?" which looks at the importance of labelling.  Due Wednesday.
ELA A 30:

AP 20:

  • Life of Pi needs to be read for Monday.

    • Reading Part II of To Kill a Mockingbird.  They will need to read chapters 12, 13, 14, and 15 and choose one quotation from each chapter and write a paragraph of WHY that is such an important quotation.  This will be due next Monday.
    AP 10:
    • Connections paragraph from "Tell-Tale Heart."  They had to make connection from text to text, text to self, or text to the world and write a paragraph about it.
