Period 1--AP 20
We continued with our Shakespearean sonnets and had a look at how to analyze them. The students came up with some ideas using the SIFTS method and then we worked together as a class to flesh out the rest of the ideas.
Period 2--AP 30
We started Beowulf and Medieval Literature today. We looked at samples of Old, Middle, and Modern English as well as "Caedmon's Hymn"--one of the oldest surviving poems written in what is recognized as English. The students were given a handout on the History of Language and it introduces some of the time period in which Beowulf is set. The students had a couple of definitions to write down. We should be ready to get reading the poem from here.
Period 3--AP 10
We are finished reading Macbeth, so we are starting to do some analysis with the play via a power point I have made up with information about literary devices, characterization, etc.
Period 4--History 10
We de-briefed the Bead Game we played last Wednesday and compared Command, Market, and Traditional economies. We were just in the middle of a handout giving further info on these economies when the bell rang.
